Young Brass Musicians

Project: Come Blow Your Horn

The ‘Come Blow Your Horn’ project launched in September 2022. It aims to reach out to school children to encourage them to learn a brass instrument. The project was made possible due to the hard work of Joe Morris and Ampthill Town Band to receive a £10,000 grant from the newly established Rookery South Community Trust Fund.

Ampthill Town Band will deliver the 2-year ‘Come Blow Your Horn’ project within the Alameda Middle School (in Ampthill) and Woodland Middle School (in Flitwick) They support new learner groups in brass musicianship including trumpets, cornets, trombones, horns, and tubas.

Instruments and tuition will be provided free of charge for a group of about 12 learners in each middle school. Learners will also join for practices held at Redborne School and with Ampthill Town Band.
